This robot earned quite a bit of fame in its early days amongst the wider team. Marco Tyler-Rodrigue and Grante Holtes set out to create a robot that expanded from 18 inches to a 40 inch tower, eating barrels and balls as it travelled along and carrying them up internally. After breaking many pieces of metal, snapping thousands of rubber bands and hours of general frustration, the project was abandoned.
The replacement was a typical NZ design robot with a slight engineering twist. Instead of using the traditional four-bar linkage to keep the intake level, a sprocket and chain was used.
